Quote FAQs

Is EpoxyFloorIndex free to use?

Yes, and nothing on this site is ever charged to a property owner. A listing is free too, and no company can buy a better position: the order on every list comes from a published formula, and there is no advertising slot on this site. When you send this form, we pass your job to one of the highest-scoring companies listed in your area so they can quote it.

Who will contact me after I submit?

One floor coating contractor. We read what comes in and pass your name, phone number and description of the job to one of the highest-scoring companies listed in your area, and they call you about it. Your details are not published, not sold, and not sent to a list of companies to fight over. Our privacy policy sets out exactly how your information is handled, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Epoxy or polyaspartic, and is the difference worth paying for?

Polyaspartic generally cures in a day rather than several, holds its colour better under sunlight and is more forgiving of temperature swings, which matters in a Toronto garage. Epoxy costs less up front. The bigger predictor of whether a floor lasts is not which product went down but how the slab was prepared underneath it, so ask each quote what grinding they include before you compare the two names.

Can it go over a floor that is already painted or peeling?

Not directly, and a quote that says otherwise is the one to be careful with. Old coating has to come off, usually by diamond grinding or shot blasting, and any oil in the slab has to be dealt with or the new coating will lift in the same spots. Say on the form what is on the floor now, because prep is where the real difference between two prices usually hides.

How do you choose which company gets my request?

By the same published score that sets the order of every list on this site, filtered to companies that work in your area and do the kind of work you described. Nobody pays to be picked, and no company can raise their own score by submitting anything to us. We do not check licences, insurance or WSIB coverage, so ask for those before you sign anything.
